I work as an extension of leadership teams and provide legal or strategic guidance for senior stakeholders. I typically work with executive leads, in-house general counsel and external lawyers.

Trusted advisor for existing work

Working alongside the executive team on C-suite, I will provide input and guidance into complex and significant legal issues facing the business or organisation. Usually this is when there is a complex dispute, significant claim, or if the chance of this occurring is highly likely.

I’ll meet with your leadership team on a frequent basis, assisting the team with reporting to the board, talking through concerns and queries, and providing expert advice on the proposed legal response.
Cost: This first phase typically takes 3 months, and involves an investment starting at $25k, depending on the size and nature of the claim.

Insurance: Risk review and recommendations

In this role, I will work alongside senior stakeholders to provide guidance on your current insurance structure.

I will meet with you to review insurance risk broker reports and specific insurance policies that have been aligned with known risks. After this, you will recieve an in-depth report on how your current cover could be further elevated or your legal response improved.

Cost: This is typically a one-off fee of $20-30k, depending on the scope and size of the project.

Assurance and oversight for insurance claims

Utilising nearly four decades of legal experience, your executive and external legal team will be provided with wider guidance on the most beneficial ongoing response.

This is an area where I have a wealth of experience, as I’ve worked on commercial and construction disputes over $200 million, and was lead on one of the largest professional negligence claims in New Zealand. I will provide actionable and comprehensive steps to help you achieve the agreed outcomes.

In order to deliver the best results, this typically involves working alongside the executive team and internal general counsel over an extended period.

Strategic support and transparent communication are essential to success when dealing with large insurance claims. You will be provided with well-informed advice on how to structure, present and support large, complex insurance claims within the context of your insurance policy. My experience in various industries also means that I have the ability to fully immerse myself in complex situations and can quickly understand a multitude of stakeholder requests.

This generally involves me leading the project team and guiding the legal and insurance response within the context of an operating business.
