Three decades of legal expertise
I’ve been a practising lawyer since 1978, setting up Markit Law in (YEAR). Over time my role has evolved, and I now act as an expert extension of high-performing senior leadership teams.
During my career, I’ve consistently worked in industries in periods of significant change, and have helped key stakeholders to manage high-risk and high-value projects and claims.
I’ve set out to have a diverse career. I was the lead lawyer for the Christchurch City Council post-2011 earthquake, and have strategised successful projects in everything from the rail industry to the education sector. Highlights for me include generating the revolutionary use of plain language in contract law, creating accessible building contracts for increased customer transparency, as well as handling New Zealand’s largest-ever insurance claim.
Sustainable leadership
Since childhood, I have been fascinated by the relationship between people and planet. Throughout my career, I’ve been guided by a love for sustainability and transparency.
In recent years sustainable living has become a more prevalent professional passion. I’ve gained certificates in Sustainability and the Circular Economy from the University of Cambridge and Leadership in Sustainability from Imperial College of London to further my understanding in this field. With this knowledge, I guide companies undergoing organisational change towards the most actionable, impactful and sustainable outcome.
